I am intrigued by your ideas...

I have a favour to ask. I’m looking for examples of excellent promotional newsletters and emails.

If you’re like me, you are probably signed up to dozens — if not hundreds — of newsletters. Most of these you ignore. You delete them or you have a filter that throws them into a folder that you check only once in awhile. This is natural. It shows you are human.

But I’m guessing that there is at least one newsletter that’s the exception. You look forward to it landing in your inbox. You don’t filter it away and when it arrives you are always glad to see it there. I would like to see a copy of that newsletter.

The reason I am asking for this is because I’m working with a group of theatre and dance people in Toronto and we’re all pretty convinced that the current way that people go about getting the word out isn’t very effective.

Which is not to say that I only want to get ones about dance. You cherished promotional emails probably have nothing to do with the performing arts. So much the better! We want to learn from outside the field.

No cheating! Please don’t send me an example of one that you’ve created. We already know that you think what you send is pretty good. I want to see the ones you are happy to receive.

Send it here: [email protected].
If you’re willing to provide a short explanation of why you love it, even better!

I’ll be going over these with my co-conspirators and I’ll try to put together some kind of coherent analysis of what we discover.

Thanks,
Tim
