I have a similar problem with architecture blogs who do not distinguish proposed projects from actual built projects (ahem! Inhabitat). It is all well and good to talk about the latest living wall/urban farm-scraper/smart facade blah blah and include gorgeous (so lifelike! wait, this isn't a photo?) MaxStudio renderings, but, as you are correct to point out, we don't learn anything about how well it works or if it works at all.

I'm not sure if this is your implied question, but can something be called technology, much less revolutionary or even innovative technology, if it is not in fact operational?

And Superman would probably win, though he would not deserve it. Maybe if they fought in the presence of Kryptonite, where Superman would not have any unfair physical advantages. Batman is clearly smarter and savvier.
